Today, I Honour My Resilience

Human beings are miraculous beings.
At their best, they are filled with love, courage and hope.
I am always humbled by resilience – mine, yours, theirs.
Everyone struggles and falls. It is part of the human journey.
Getting up is not always easy; staying up is
extraordinary.
The challenge of Life is to renew our intention to STAND...literally and symbolically...every day, and if necessary, every minute.

Spritiual Intelligence

Since the 1980s, Harvard professor Howard Gardner Ph.D. has been changing and expanding our perception of intelligence by inviting us to think in terms of “multiple intelligences”. He proposes seven kinds of intelligence: Linguistic Intelligence, Logical/Mathematical Intelligence, Musical Rhythmic Intelligence, Bodily/Kinaesthetic Intelligence, Spatial Intelligence, Intrapersonal Intelligence and Interpersonal Intelligence.

Since this initial classification in1983, there has been considerable debate among scholars and researchers on other kinds of intelligence that may also exist such as Naturalist Intelligence, Existentialist Intelligence and Spiritual Intelligence. Psychologists have long been struggling with discovering ways of measuring intelligence and the 21st century has witnessed movement beyond traditional rational intelligence (IQ) to incorporate emotional intelligence (EQ, as popularized by Daniel Goleman in the 1990s), and now the possibility of a third “Q” — spiritual intelligence (SQ).

According to authors D. Zohar and I. Marshall,
Connecting With Our Spiritual Intelligence (2000), SQ is what we use to develop our longing and capacity for meaning, vision and value. It helps us live up to our potential for better, more satisfying lives. The repercussions of SQ in the world are considerable as more and more of us are striving to “bring our soul” to every part of our life including work and family.

As a work-focused and product-driven society, we find ourselves at a spiritual crossroads, with many of us experiencing a crisis of meaning. Yes, we go to work everyday and we do our job to the best of our ability, but we also want it to
mean something. We long to be in touch with some larger, deeper, richer life perspective. Are we on the right path? Are we using our qualities and strengths to build harmonious relationships and better the world?  How could our work life be more aligned with our personal values?

Zohar and Marshall refer to seven practical steps to developing greater spiritual intelligence:

1.      Become aware of where you are now
2.      Feel strongly that you want to change
3.      Reflect on what your own centre is and on what are your deepest motivations
4.      Discover and dissolve obstacles
5.      Explore many possibilities to go forward
6.      Commit yourself to a path
7.      Remain aware there are many paths

We evolve as spiritual beings when we ask ourselves rich and meaningful questions that guide us toward a path of transformation. How much of yourself are you bringing to LIFE  and to LIGHT right now?

Enlightened Teacher’s Creed for A New Earth

All of us are called at one time or another –
  • To show and explain what we know from experience, formal training and intuition;
  • To give information or instruction about what we do and how it can best be used to serve the world;
  • To encourage someone with our choice of words and our kindness;
  • To cause someone to learn or understand something that they need to learn in order to grow, move on and become who they are;
  • To model the way by our example and illumine the path of all living beings who share our life space.
All of us are teachers because any and every moment of life is a Teaching Moment.

Let us be enlightened about our calling and teach with our minds, our hearts and our souls.

Let no moment be lost. Let us begin today.

Letting Go of Old Ways (Visualization)

Do you aspire to the kind of change that will take your life in a new and vibrant direction? The short answer is likely “yes”. Every human being is motivated by the desire for a better life.

Yet, perhaps you fear change, resist it, even dread it. Most of us do. We sometimes want to hold on to our “old ways” even when we know that “something has to change” in order for us to be more at peace in our heart.

When we hold on to outdated and ineffective ways of being and doing, our mind learns to stay stuck in a state of confusion. Days and months can turn into decades of mismatched pieces. As long as we hold on to the “old ways” our past remains “alive” and continues to shape our existence. If we could simply take that first step towards letting go!

What if taking that first step was simpler than we thought? Begin by taking a deep breath. Then read the text below and imagine the sound of your compassionate voice as the words vibrate in your mind’s eye.

Visualize yourself standing in a beautiful place of your choice, your very own field of wisdom or perhaps you are facing the sea, your very own ocean of possibility. While you are in this sacred space, feel that your mind is untroubled and that your heart is open. See yourself surrounded by serene shades and whispering winds. In your hands, see yourself holding whatever it is that you want to release. It could be a depressing thought, an outdated belief, a negative emotion, a distressing memory, a limiting behaviour, an erroneous perception, or perhaps you see yourself holding the hand of a person that is toxic in your life. Feel yourself experience the lightness of being that comes from the softness in the air as you breathe in, open your hand, let it go....breathe out. Whatever it is that you need to let go, dissolve it into nothingness as you blow it away out in the field or the sea.

Today, in this moment of clarity, know that you are on the brink of opportunity. You have created an amazing opportunity for a new way of being and doing. A way of care and compassion for your soul.

There might be more steps to take before you feel completely at ease in this release of the old but with your kindest voice, tell yourself that you took a gentle step today.
